Project in the heart of historic Poznań - Kozia Street 8

The MJL Project Management team is involved in the delivery of a complex investment covering the extension, reconstruction, and superstructure of the building located at Kozia Street 8 in Poznań. The project is situated in a unique, historic part of the city, which requires special attention to the preservation of heritage values and close cooperation with conservation authorities.

Scope of works

The investment includes comprehensive construction activities, such as:

• modernization and reconstruction of the existing residential and commercial building
• change of use for part of the basement areas
• superstructure works and redesign of selected historic elements
• extension of the building with a new five-storey wing
• adaptation of structural solutions to archaeological findings and conservation requirements

The project is being carried out in close cooperation with the Municipal Conservator of Monuments and under continuous archaeological supervision.

Archaeological discoveries and design challenges

During the works, numerous historical elements were uncovered, including:

• 15th-century masonry walls
• historical wells
• furnace foundations
• historic cobblestone pavement and remains of former structures

Each discovery required ongoing design adjustments and the re-engineering of structural solutions. A flexible approach to project management and rapid decision-making have become key factors in the successful delivery of this investment.
